چکیده
BACKGROUND: Urologic guidelines recommend perioperative instillation of chemotherapy after transurethral resection bladder tumor (TURBT) to decrease recurrence, yet implementation this recommendation is partial due associated morbidity. Hypertonic saline destroys cells by osmotic dehydration and might present a safer alternative. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the safety 3% hypertonic (Hypersal) intravesical following TURBT in rats humans. METHODS: In 8 whose bladders were electrically injured, blue-dyed Hypersal was administered. We measured serum sodium levels before pathologically evaluated their pelvic cavity for signs inflammation or blue discoloration. Twenty-four patients recruited human trial (NIH-NCT04147182), 15 comprised interventional 10 control group (one patient crossed over). given postoperatively. Serum before, 1 hour 12–24 hours instillation. Adverse effects documented compared between groups. RESULTS: rats, average 140.0 mEq/L 140.3 instillation, respectively. Necropsy revealed no humans plasma 138.6 mEq∖L, 138.8 mEq∖L 137.7 During postoperative follow-up there one case fever. A month surgery, dysuria reported 5 while urgency hematuria each. The most severe adverse events grade 2 on Clavien-Dindo scale. similar group. CONCLUSIONS: safe tolerable immediately TURBT.

Single instillation of mitomycin C reduces 1st year recurrence following transurethral resection of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.
OBJECTIVE To study the impact of single instillation of 40 mg Mitomycin C (MMC-40) within first hour of transurethral resection (TUR), on first year recurrence of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. METHODS In this study of two groups of patients with similar demographics and tumour profile were compared to assess first year tumour recurrence pattern. Group A received MMC-40 within 30 minutes...
متن کاملThe Direct Anti-Cancer Effect of a Single Instillation of Epirubicin after Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor for Non-Muscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer
PURPOSE To evaluate the direct anti-cancer effect of a single instillation of epirubicin (SIE) after transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) by analysis of immediate urine cytology (IUC). MATERIALS AND METHODS We reviewed the records of 158 patients who had IUC after TURBT for NMIBC. Fifty-six patients were treated with SIE after TURBT a...
متن کاملContinuous saline bladder irrigation after transurethral resection is a prophylactic treatment choice for non-muscle invasive bladder tumor.
BACKGROUND Instillation of chemotherapy after transurethral resection (TUR) has been considered as an optimal treatment for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). However, controversy remains regarding the role of chemotherapy instillation. We therefore evaluated the usefulness of continuous saline bladder irrigation (CSBI) after TUR. PATIENTS AND METHODS Patients with intermediate risk ...

Purpose To evaluate the rate of pyuria and bacteriuria after transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT). Materials and Methods We retrospectively evaluated data obtained from 363 patients who underwent TURBT between October 2012 and December 2013 at Seoul National University Hospital. Urinalysis and urine culture were assessed at 3, 6, 12, and 24 months postoperatively. Primary endpoint...
متن کاملIntraabdominal Compartment Syndrome Complicating Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor
Abdominal compartment syndrome can result from many different causes. We present a case where this dangerous syndrome occurred in the operating room during a transurethral resection of a bladder tumor. It was initially recognized by an elevation in the peak inspiratory pressure. We report the typical physiologic changes that occur with this syndrome and its treatment options.
